OxygenWell Hyperbaric & Regenerative Medicine Center provides medically supervised hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for eligible veterans referred through the VA Community Care Network.
With locations in Sherman Oaks and Calabasas, our team works with veterans and their referring providers to help coordinate authorized hyperbaric oxygen therapy outside of the VA when community-based care is appropriate.

What Is VA Community Care?
VA Community Care allows eligible veterans to receive healthcare from approved community providers when certain VA eligibility and authorization requirements are met.Depending on the veteran’s circumstances, the VA may authorize care with a community provider when the needed service is not readily available through a VA facility or when other Community Care eligibility criteria are satisfied.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy requires appropriate medical evaluation and, when using VA Community Care benefits, authorization from the VA before treatment.
Our team can work with the veteran, referring provider and appropriate VA Community Care representatives to help facilitate the process.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Veterans
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing high-concentration oxygen inside a pressurized hyperbaric chamber.Under increased atmospheric pressure, substantially more oxygen can be carried in the blood and delivered to tissues throughout the body. HBOT is used medically to support processes involved in:
Tissue oxygenation
Wound healing
Formation of new blood vessels
Recovery of compromised tissue
Reduction of certain types of swelling and inflammation
Support of the body’s natural repair processes

How VA Community Care HBOT Works
1. Speak With Your VA Provider
The process generally begins with your VA healthcare provider. Your provider determines whether the requested treatment is medically appropriate and whether a Community Care referral should be submitted.
2. VA Community Care Authorization
The VA reviews the request and determines eligibility and authorization for Community Care.Receiving treatment through VA Community Care generally requires authorization before treatment begins.
3. Contact OxygenWell
Once you have a referral or authorization—or if you need help understanding what information is needed—contact our office.Our team can assist with coordinating the information necessary to begin care.
4. Medical Evaluation
Before beginning HBOT, patients are evaluated to determine whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy is appropriate and to identify any medical considerations or contraindications.
5. Begin Your Treatment Program
The number and duration of HBOT treatments depend upon the diagnosis, clinical response and authorized treatment plan.Many medical HBOT protocols involve a series of treatments rather than a single
